Two Jewish candidates in the Canadian federal election appeared before a court to challenge the chief electoral officer’s decision to schedule the upcoming national vote on Shemini Atzeret.

“We’re asking Jews to show up,” she said. “We’re asking people who agree that human rights abuses are being committed. I would be sad if folks do not feel welcome.”

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

"That does not need to be our campaign call," conservative Representative Mark Walker said.

"I’m old enough that I am not only feeling nostalgic about the moon landing but nostalgia for the nostalgia."

The job applicant was willing to compromise by wearing his beard in a net, but McDonald's wouldn't accept this - claiming that having a beard was in breach of their company policy.
